Deadline – Monday, October 19th
The Cashiers Historical Society encourages area residents to nominate a property for the Village Heritage Award. The architecture of any such building should be in keeping with the ‘Old Village’ feel with vernacular style in materials and scale. Nominees must be older structures, whether repurposed or original use. Other criteria include attractive landscaping with native materials, moderate lighting to enhance the night sky visibility, and must fall within the boundaries of Hwy. 107 North to the Continental Divide, Hwy 107 South to the Methodist Church, Hwy 64 East to the Humane Society, and Hwy 64 West to the Continental Divide.
“The building should contribute to the business vitality of the community,” historical society officials said.
The winner will be announced, and the Village Heritage Award plaque will be presented at the annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet in the fall. The plaque will be unveiled the following spring at the property selected. The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce endorses and supports this award because the above described characteristics of the property enhances Cashiers businesses.
Nominations must be received by Monday, Oct. 19th.
